  1. Billing

Overview

Apidog provides several billing features that enable you to manage your team's payment methods, change your team's plan, and track your team's resource usage.
For a comprehensive comparison of all the plans, you can visit our official website: https://apidog.com/pricing/.

Billing units#

Apidog's billing unit is either a Team or an Organization. You can subscribe to a Plan for a Team, or subscribe to a Plan for an Organization to cover all Teams within it.
If you are a member of multiple Teams/Organizations, paid features will only cover the Teams/Organizations with subscriptions, not your other Teams/Organizations. And if you're members of multiple paid Teams/Organizations, you'll be billed seperately in each Team/Organization.

Billing amount#

Apidog charges based on the number of member in a Team/Organization. The billing amount is the subscription price of the Plan multiplied by the number of member in the Team/Organization.
The team size is the number of IDs you can see in "Team" - "Members", including Members and Guests(who only have permissions for a single project rather than Team permissions).

If your company has employees who are API consumers and don't need to participate in API development collaboration, but only need to read API documentation, they can read the shared documentations without joining the Apidog Team. Apidog does NOT charge for such API consumers.

Billing methods#

Apidog offers two payment methods:
1.
"Flexible subscription (credit card)"
This option involves binding a credit card
It features automatic seat calculation and charging
2.
"Annual fixed-seat (bank transfer)"
This option is for annual payments with a fixed number of seats
Payment is made via bank transfer

Flexible subscription (credit card)#

Flexible subscription is the recommended subscription method. In the top right corner of the Apidog app, click "Upgrade", select the Plan that suits you, and click "Start free trial". Enter your credit card number to start the trial.
Learn more about Upgrade plan.
During the trial period, you can cancel the subscription at any time. When the trial period ends, the trial subscription will automatically convert to a regular subscription.
Apidog charges for the entire subscription period at the beginning of each cycle, whether it's monthly or yearly.
For monthly subscriptions:
You'll receive an invoice at the beginning of each billing cycle based on the current team size.
If team size increased in the previous month, the invoice will calculate fees based on the current total headcount, plus charges for new members' actual subscription days in the previous month.
If team size decreased in the previous month, the invoice will calculate fees based on the current total headcount, minus a credit for the unused days of departed members in the previous month.
For annual subscriptions:
You'll receive an invoice at the beginning of the year based on the current team size.
During the subscription period, if there are no changes in team size, no new invoices will be generated.
If team size changes, a new invoice will be generated at the beginning of the next month reflecting the changes.
For new members, the invoice will charge for their subscription from their join date to the end of the annual subscription period.
For departed members, the invoice will refund the unused portion of their annual subscription.

Payment failure#

If new invoice generated, Stripe will attempt an automatic charge. If it fails, your Plan will temporarily revert to Free until the invoice is successfully paid.
Stripe will notify team administrators via email about the reason for payment failure.
Stripe will automatically attempt to charge up to 4 times in 5 days from the billing date. At any time, you can pay for the invoice manually to restore the subscription.

Annual fixed-seat (bank transfer)#

This billing method is suitable for companies that cannot use credit card payments. It allows you to generate an invoice first and then pay via bank transfer.
To access this billing option, click "Unable to use the credit card or need an invoice first? Click to upgrade" at the top of the Upgrade interface in the Apidog app.

In this method:
Only annual subscriptions are supported; monthly subscriptions are not available.
You need to specify the number of seats to purchase when subscribing. During the subscription period, you can add or remove team members within your purchased seat limit.
During the subscription period, you can purchase more seats but cannot decrease them.

After initiating a subscription to an Apidog Plan this way, you'll receive an invoice. Your subscription will be activated upon payment of the invoice.
Near the end of the subscription period, you'll receive an email reminder about renewal. If you renew, your subscription continues; if not, it ends.
Learn more about Annual fix-seats.

Billing system#

All payments are encrypted and processed via Stripe, the same payment provider used by products like Twitter, Pinterest, and Lyft. For matters related to invoices, payment information, and more, you can access Stripe's customer portal through the client API.
You can view and download invoices.
If you encounter any payment or recurring billing issues, you can update your credit card information.
You also have the option to modify your payment method.
You can click "Manage Plan" to jump to Stripe to maintain these info mentioned above.

Exceeding usage capacity#

When your team exceeds the capacity allocated in your plan, the functionality of your team will be affected. Here's what happens when you exceed the usage capacity:
Team members have read-only access to all projects.
Team administrators can manage team members as usual.
Team administrators can upgrade the plan or reduce the usage capacity to restore normal team functionality.

Contact support#

If you have any questions about payment or refund of pricing plans, our support team is here to help. You can contact us by Email: support@apidog.com.
